President's Welcome Message
Ronda Schlumbohm
We are so pleased to welcome you back to another exciting year for Golden Heart Literacy Council!
As we start the school year, we have been thinking a lot about inspiring professional development. When teachers feel refreshed and inspired in their teaching practices, their students benefit from teachers who are energized and passionate about their work. This year, one of our goals is to find more ways to engage, inspire, and support teachers in our community. We have created a private Facebook group where teachers can ask questions, get feedback on those questions, learn about a variety of educational resources, and connect with other teachers for possible classroom observations. We will also continue our Coffee Chats, where teachers can meet with other colleagues to discuss specific educational topics and collect resources they can implement immediately in the classroom.
Each year brings fresh opportunity to take more ownership of our professional learning. This is what empowers and excites us as educators. It is our hope that Golden Heart Literacy Council and the Alaska State Literacy Association will be an engaging professional resource for you.
As always, we look forward to hearing from you. What is on your wishlist for engaging professional development?
